Rainwater harvesting, application of sensors that track substrate’s humidity, high-precision irrigation, and collection and disinfection of drainage water are all techniques/technologies used to reduce water waste and to optimize the utilization of this limited natural resource.
To reduce CO2 emissions and to increase the exploitation of electricity from renewable sources, the company disposes of state-of-the-art photovoltaic panels that convert solar energy into readily available electricity for handling the warehouse and the greenhouses. Moreover, following the installation of a cogeneration system, by using a single energy source (natural gas) we produce electricity, hot water to heat the greenhouses and CO2 fed into the greenhouse to increase photosynthetic activity of plants.
We reduce CO2 emissions also by using sustainable transports. The staff move inside the farm by bicycles, and forklifts and all the other machineries that we use to transport the product are electrically powered. In addition, product delivery is made by an electric van that is recharged in the company parking space, where you can find a charging station for electric vehicles.
Accredited control organisms certify the adherence to product and process self-imposed standards that attest the socio-environmental impact of our productive system.
